Studio Policies

Studio Policies

Lesson Registration

Enrollment in lessons constitutes acceptance of the Studio Policies outlined below.

Payment

Lesson fees are payable in advance as agreed. Payment reserves your scheduled lesson time and is non-refundable except where required by law.

Cancellation of Individual Lessons

Lessons cancelled by the client with less than 48 hours' notice are non-refundable. Makeup lessons are offered solely at the instructor's discretion and subject to availability.

Discontinuing Lessons

A minimum of 30 days' written notice is required to discontinue ongoing lessons. Tuition remains payable during the 30-day notice period, regardless of attendance. This policy allows sufficient time to adjust scheduling and offer the reserved lesson time to another student.

Instructor Travel

For in-home lessons, travel is included only as agreed at the time of booking. The instructor reserves the right to modify travel arrangements or discontinue in-home service where travel becomes impractical, unsafe, or economically unfeasible. Alternative arrangements, including online lessons or lessons at the instructor's teaching location, may be offered where available.

Missed Lessons

If a student is absent without notice or is unavailable at the scheduled lesson time, the lesson will be considered forfeited and no refund or makeup lesson will be provided.

Instructor Cancellations

If the instructor must cancel a lesson, a makeup lesson for that lesson will be provided.

Safety Right to Refuse Service

The instructor reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or discontinue any lesson where, in the instructor's reasonable judgment, the teaching environment is unsafe, unsanitary, or otherwise unsuitable for the provision of lesson services.

Examples include, but are not limited to, aggressive or uncontrolled pets, excessive noise or disruptions, smoking or vaping during the lesson, illegal activity, hazardous weather or travel conditions, unsanitary conditions, insect or pest infestations, flooding or water damage, the presence of hazardous substances, or any other circumstance that may compromise the health, safety, or ability of the instructor to conduct the lesson professionally.

If an in-home lesson is ended or cannot proceed due to such conditions, the lesson may be considered cancelled by the client and the studio's cancellation policy will apply.

Policy Changes

The instructor reserves the right to amend these policies at any time. Updated policies will be posted on the website and apply to future lessons after reasonable notice has been provided.

Respectful Conduct Policy

The instructor is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment for all students.

Clients are expected to communicate with the instructor in a respectful and professional manner. Repeated unreasonable demands, attempts to dictate services outside the agreed lesson arrangement, excessive or abusive communications, harassment, intimidation, or conduct that interferes with the instructor's ability to operate the studio professionally may result in the immediate suspension or termination of lessons without further obligation to continue providing services.

The instructor reserves the right to immediately suspend or terminate lessons or services if a student, parent, guardian, or other attendee engages in conduct that is abusive, threatening, intimidating, harassing, discriminatory, excessively disruptive, or otherwise disrespectful. Examples include, but are not limited to, yelling, swearing directed at others, aggressive or demanding behaviour, verbal abuse, threats, or conduct that causes the instructor to feel unsafe or prevents the lesson from being conducted professionally.

If such conduct occurs during a lesson at the instructor's home or teaching studio, the instructor may require the individual(s) to leave the premises immediately. If the conduct occurs during an in-home lesson, the instructor may end the lesson immediately and leave the premises.

Where lessons are terminated due to a breach of this policy, any lesson that has commenced will be deemed completed, and no refund will be issued for that lesson. The instructor also reserves the right to terminate the ongoing lesson agreement for cause. Any prepaid fees for future lessons will be handled in accordance with the studio's cancellation and termination policies and applicable law.

Force Majeure

The instructor shall not be liable for failure or delay in providing lessons where such failure results from events beyond the instructor's reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, illness, government orders, power outages, internet outages, natural disasters, or other emergencies. Where practical, lessons may be rescheduled or conducted online.

Illness

Students who are experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness should not attend in-person lessons. Where feasible, lessons may be conducted online instead.

Parent/Gaurdian Responsibility

A parent or responsible adult must be present or readily accessible during in-home lessons involving minor students.

Property Damage/Personal Belongings

Clients are responsible for any damage caused by themselves or their guests to the instructor's property, equipment, or teaching materials through negligence or intentional misconduct.

Likewise:

The instructor is not responsible for loss of or damage to personal belongings brought to lessons except where required by law.

Online Lesson Waiver

The instructor is not responsible for lesson interruptions caused by internet outages, equipment failures, or technical issues beyond the instructor's reasonable control.

Media Recording Policy

Lessons may not be audio or video recorded without the prior consent of the instructor.

Likewise:

The instructor may record lessons for educational purposes only with the student's  or parents consent (in the case of minors).

Emergency Contact:

Parents are responsible for providing current emergency contact information.

Outstanding Fees

Outstanding fees remain payable after termination of lessons. The instructor reserves the right to pursue recovery of unpaid amounts through lawful means.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the instructor's liability arising from the provision of lesson services is limited to the amount of lesson fees paid by the client for the lesson(s) giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these policies excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by law.

Entire Agreement

These policies, together with any written lesson agreement, constitute the entire agreement between the parties regarding lesson services.

Governing Law

These policies are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada.
